Governor Cuomo Announces Comprehensive NY-Sun Initiative to Expand Solar Development in New York

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo launched the NY-Sun Initiative to double the amount of customer-sited solar power installed annually in New York, and quadruple that amount by 2013. The NY-Sun Initiative was first outlined by the Governor in his 2012 State of the State Address.

New York State is making solar energy more accessible to homes, businesses, and communities through NY-Sun. Our goal is to help make it possible for New Yorkers to choose clean energy while lowering their energy costs.

NY-Sun has multiple resources to help New Yorkers harness the power of the sun, including:

    Incentives and Financing for Your Home and Business: Providing a range of offerings to make going solar more affordable
    Education: Providing homeowners and renters the information needed to make informed decisions about solar
    Local Government Resources: Providing training, tools, and assistance to help local governments and jurisdictions identify opportunities, mitigate barriers, and create solar programs
    Community Solar for Your Home and Business: Expanding access and the opportunity to participate in community solar projects for all New Yorkers
