CPRG Implementation Grant: Minnesota Climate-Smart Food Systems

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency received $200 million in EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Program Implementation Funds to support a series of initiatives designed to create more climate-smart food systems in Minnesota. Key elements of the project include:

- Supporting climate-smart farming practices by expanding Minnesota’s successful Agricultural Water Quality Certification and Soil Health Financial Assistance programs.
- Accelerating the transition to cleaner refrigerants in small businesses, supermarkets, schools, hospitals, food banks, and corner stores.
- Electrifying the vehicles and equipment we use to use to grow and transport our food.  
- Scaling up successful food waste prevention programs that keep valuable nutrients in circulation to feed people and livestock and prevent significant methane emissions.  
- Protecting and restoring 10,000 acres of peatlands in Minnesota, which absorb and store climate pollution.
- Coordinating with tribal governments and low-income and disadvantaged communities to improve food security and strengthen food sovereignty.

Climate Roadmap: Harnessing Returns from the Energy Transition

The Minnesota State Board of Investment (SBI) serves the State of Minnesota by investing the assets of state and local employee benefit plans, other public retirement savings plans, tax advantaged savings plans, and non-retirement assets.

The Minnesota State Board of Investment's roadmap presentation is intended to:

- Provide transparency and clarity regarding the SBI's approach to executing on its fiduciary duty regarding these important topics. 
- Build on the work of the Meketa Investment Group's Climate Change Investment Analysis Report from 2022. 
- Present the SBI Staff's approach for implementing the Board's 2020 resolution concerning environmental, social, and governance initiatives.

Minnesota SF 657 - Allocating American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Funding

Provides funding allocations in the State of Minnesota from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 stimulus funding.

Administered by the Community Reinvestment Fund, this program offers loans up to $300,000 to commercial, industrial or 501 (c)(3) organizations seeking to invest in energy efficiency and/or renewable energy improvements in existing properties.

Green Business Loan Program

Administered by the Saint Paul Port Authority, this program offers loans up to $1 million to commercial or industrial businesses and 501 (c)(3) organizations seeking to invest in energy efficiency and/or renewable energy improvements in existing properties.
