Executive Order JBE 2018-16: Louisiana Watershed-Based Floodplain Management Coordination

The development and implementation of a statewide, watershed-based floodplain management program.

The Adaptive Governance Initiative's (AGI) goal is to build the capacity of agencies to identify how coastal change will affect their missions and begin the process of adapting to those changes. Through the AGI, agencies are uncovering vulnerabilities to coastal change and identifying adaptation options that address vulnerabilities to allow the agency to continue carrying out its mission. 

The AGI is being implemented through a partnership between The Center for Planning Excellence and Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities, with support from Walton Family Foundation, Kresge Foundation, Foundation for Louisiana, Greater New Orleans Foundation, and CPRA.

HCR 127: Urges and requests the evaluation of the state's readiness for attracting offshore wind energy supply chain industries to the state

To urge and request the Department of Economic Development, in consultation with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, to evaluate the state's business advantages, economic climate, and workforce readiness to compete in attracting offshore wind energy supply chain industries to the state and to report their findings no later than February 1, 2024.

LWI coordinates funding, data and resources among five state agencies to reduce flood risk through a watershed-based approach, which respects the natural functions of our watersheds.

Louisiana’s Strategic Adaptions for Future Environments (LA SAFE)

The state of Louisiana released a set of seven climate adaptation strategies created for six coastal parishes recently awarded more than $41 million in Community Development Block Grant funding for flood-resilience projects
developed through Louisiana’s Strategic Adaptions for Future Environments (LA SAFE).

Based on projections of coastal land loss and flood risk, the strategies outline a vision of
development in the parishes over the next 50 years and provide context for the ten
recently funded LA SAFE projects.
